CLOSE OF SEASON. ' NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The closing of the green for the aeuoa took place yesterday afternoon, under : very favorable conditions. The weatiwf . ', was fine, and there was a good attend- ';- ance, the customary mateh— PreiMeatfjK v. Vice-Presidents'—resulting in a> irtn y for the latter by a majority of 11 point*. '' At the conclusion of the play Mr. A. K. Smart (vice-president), after apologising .. for the absence of the president (Mr. Brooking), in declaring the season closed, said that, although the weather at the ; "' start had been very unfavorable, tfce V Inter part of the season had made op for all that. He congratulated members on the manner in which they had upheld the traditions of the club, but said Use chief cause for congratulation was the condition of the green at the close of the season. It was a great credit to the. caretaker, Mr. Barnett; who had looked after it exceptionally well. (Applause.)' It had been in excellent condition throughout the whole season. In conclusion, Mr .Smart expressed a hope that ail the members would come back next season, and that they would again have a successful run.
