FOOTBALL.

DOMINION TOURS. London, May 12. Trance and South Africa are desirous of sending football teams to New Zealand in 1920. The New Zealand Union will decide which can be invited. STAR CLUB, Mr. J. Clarke occupied the chair at the meeting of members of the Star Club, held Oil Monday evening. It was decided to enter four teams—one Saturday junior and senior, and first and second juniors for Thursday matches. Messrs A. Pearce and Carncross were elected selectors of the Saturday seniors and juniors respectively, and W. Crockett and E. Penniall, with the manager, selectors of the Thursday teams. At the conclusion of the general meeting the executive met, and was attended by Messrs j. Clarke (chair), D Kettlewell, W. Crockett, B. A. H. Bluclier, E. Loveridge, E. Stanley, A. Pearce (club captain), Carneross (manager Saturday juniors), R. Penniall, selector Thursday juniors), and P. Sims and J. A. Clarke (lion, secretaries). The secretary was authorised to purchase the necessary books for club purposes. On the motion of Mr. Clarke, seconded by Mr. A. Pearce, it was decided that all the old outstanding accounts and those recently incurred be passed for payment. It is the intention of the club to hold a re-union at the end of the season.

A donation of £2 and a £3 3s gold medal (for the best junior back) was received, with hearty thanks, from an old supporter.

High winds hampered play in the second round of fixtures contested on Saturday in Auckland. College Rifles had a comfortable win against University, the final figures being 21 to !) in favor of the Rifles. Grammar Old Boys securßd 15 points against 8 by Grafton. The game between Ponsonby and Parnell was interesting throughout, the final figures being: Pongonby, 17; Parnell, 13. In the bout between Marist Old Boys and Newton, the latter fifteen had a rough passage throughout, Old Boys winning by 21 points to nil.

On Saturday the members of the Opunake Club intend holding a trial game. Additional interest is lent to the game by the announcement that the gate takings are to go to Simon Myuott, one of Taranaki'a most popular piayers. The teams selected are as under. —A team: McSweeney, C. King, Segar, Ferguson, Brophy, McCallum, King, Duffy, Ronton, Wallis, Trotter, Corkill, Hiekey, O'ltorko, Bayliss; emergencies, Cook, Mauriri. B team: Fisher, Hohaia, Read, Graham, Murray, Colman, Hoskin, Macßeynolds, .Tones, Jones, O'Brien, Lichwark, Holmes, Lockley, Clements; emergencies, Kilpin, Rowlands. Mr. Nielson will referee.
