GALE ON THE COAST. Received May 18, C.5 p.m. Sydney, May 18. Torrential rain and southerly gales continue. Tho collier Tuggerah, proceeding from Bulli to Sydney, foundered during last night's gale. Eleven survivors reached Crouulla, after several hours' Imitating in a small boat. STRANDED NEW ZEALANDERS. Received May 18, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, May 17. A meeting of 113 stranded New Zealanders adopted a resolution to cable to Sir James Allen demanding the right to return immediately, and urging that the Manuka, which is sailing on May 22, be allowed to take passengers. The meeting also resolved to take action against the New Zealand Government for expenses incurred through their detention in Sydney. The chief contention of speakers was that the real cause of the detention was not the extent of influenza in Australia, but the allegedly inadequate quarantine accommodation at the various stations in New Zealand. ■ COMMONWEALTH FLEET WELCOMED.
