A cribbago match between the carriers and the Stratford Card Club was played on Friday evening and resulted in a win by the former by 13 games. In the following individual scores the carriers are mentioned first: Sharrock and Leith ti v. Scannell and Whittingco'n 3; Hancock and Liebert 3 v. Rowe and Russ 4; Bailey and Thorpe 3 v t Jackson and Anderson ti; Mann and Clifton 4 v. Watkins and Smith u; Rudding and James I) v. Collingwood and Hay lock 4; Hawke and Green 10 v. J. Neai and Cross 2; N'elson 9 v. Jones 5. To-night the Club will play the Trocadero in Smith's rooms.
A branch of the New Zealand Welfare League has been held in Stratford, and the following have been appointed to the executive: Messrs J. W. McMillan, W. J. Newton, W. Clair, A. W Budge, J. H. '"'ord, W. McDonald, W. P. Kirkwood, aiid P. Skoglund.
The Stratford branch of the R.S.A., at a meeting held last week, appointed Mr? C. A. Marehant delegate to, the annual conference. It was decided to support the Waikaio remit, favoring an increase or the Tunx'inur:- nensnon for totally disabled soldiers from £2 to £3 15s. It was stated at the meeting that a substantial donation had been received to Hie branch's firm'?, from a resident who did not wish his name disclosed. The residents of Tuna are holding a '■•'e w-me home social in honor of Corporal J. Grashinski in the schoolroom on Thursday r.ext.
