BITTERNESS OF THE BROWN MAN. TO BRITAIN AND AMERICA. Tokio, May 12. The London correspondent of the newspaper Asahi, in a bitter dispatch, says that Britain is thoroughly indifferent towards Japan. The Liberal and Labor papers are anti-Japanese and never refer to the necessity of renewing the AngloJapanese treaty. The Brazilian navy received a more cordial welcome than thj Japanese, who received better treatment in France and Italy. The causes which have changed the British attitude are the alleged Japanese, indifference, coupled with profiteering in war time, aggression towards China, and commercial rivalry with Britain. The correspondent concludes that the situation is becoming intolerable. Britons in Japan hope that the dispatch will influence the Japanese newspapers to discontinue depicting Britain and America as combining to dominate the world and denying satisfaction to Japanese interests.—Aus.-N.Z.
