ELTHAM.

Eltham, May 13. Mr. G. D. Gow presided at a committee meeting of the Eltham Athletic Club on Monday evening. Sports were fixed for June 3 at .Taumata Park, consisting of sprint ' and long-distance events, 100 yards to 440 yards for foot runners, three bicycle races, and a sevenaside football tournament. The Eltham Band will probably assist, while arrangements are being made to hold a concert or dance the same evening.

In yesterdays Daily News a local appeared to the effect that the name of Mr. G. W. Tayler (Mayor) had been mentioned as a probable candidate for the Egmont seat, now held by Mr. C. A. Wilkinson. Mr. Tayler has been 6een on the matter, and has never expressed any intention of his desire to contest the seat.
