TAURANGA HARBOR. By Telegraph—Press Association. Tauranga, Last Night. The Harbor Board decided at a meeting yesterday to invite Mr. Blair Mason to visit Tauranga and confer with the board regarding the proposed harbor improvements scheme. Mr. Mason is to arrive here on the 17th instant. AN IMPERSONATION CASE. Wellington, Last Night. Patrick Michael Murphy was charged with impersonation at the recent licensing poll. Defendant said he was muddled at the time and went from one booth in Tinakori Road to another. He was fined £3. with 13s costs.
THE KINI IN TROUBLE. Wellington, Last Night The collier Kini, from Greymouth and Bluff to Dunedin, anchored off Bluff last night, owing to a broken cylinder. The vessel signalled she is proceeding under easy steam, and is expected to reach Dundin on Sateurday morning. A TRAINING FARM. Christchurch, Last Night. Mr. Samson, Dirctor of Repatriation, states that although the department hod established a training farm for tuberculosis soldiers near Featherston, where they could have the benefit of the best medical devices, skilled training and healthy outdoor life, and sent circulars to its boards, and the committees had advertised in the newspapers, only one application for admission had been received. >.:■'' INFLUENZA AND PEACE CELEBRATION. Invercargill, Last Night. The Southland Chamber of Commerce has decided to inform the Minister of Public Health (Hon. G W. Russell), that in view of the possibility of a recrudescence of the influenza epidemic, the chamber views with alarm the holding of peace celebrations before the danger has passed.
CONFERENCE OF STATISTICIANS. Wellington, Last Night. One of the recommendations of the Dominion Royal Commission, stated the Hon. G. W. Russell, was in favor of a proposal to hold a conference of statisticians after the war, and such a conference should consider the establishment of a permanent statistical bureau, under the supervision of an inter-Imperial committee. This matter was agreed to by the 1 Imperial War Conference in 1918, and it had now been considered by Cabinet, which had resolved that Mr. Malcolm Fraser, Government Statistician, is to attend the conference. Now the war is over the date for the sitting of the conference will probably be settled early.
