FOOTBALL.

A meeting of the Tukapa Football Club was held at the Soldiers' Club last night, Mr. C. M. Gray presiding. It was decided to enter a senior team for the Thursday competition and a junior team for Saturday. Mr. H. Oliver was elected club captain, and Mr. Bert Hurley vice-captain. A practice for all players will be held at the Recreation Ground this afternoon at 2.30 for the selection of teams.

The football season opens to-day at the racecourse, New Plymouth, when the Star Club will play a match. Members and intending members are requested to bo present. The Maori Expeditionary Force Battalion team has arranged a tour of New Zealand, starting the matches in Otago ns early in the season as possible. This team has so far had but one defeat in the tournament games' in England and France, and its showing in the Dominion should create widespread interest.
