NEW ZEALAND v. FRANCE. MOST SPECTACULAR MATCH SEES! INPABIS. . / Received May 6, 1 a,m. London, May '4. At Rugby Now Zealand beat France by 16 to 11. The match was the Btoat spectacular seen in Paris. The Waverley Club lias been resuscitated. The following officials hare been elected: Patron, Mr. W. H. Wybourae; president, Mr. E. P. Symes; vice-presi-dents, all the leading men of the ,. secretary, Mr. A. J. Adlam; committee, ; Messrs. J. Hair, H. Morrison, W. Boyd, N. Bromilcy, D. Nicholls, P. Symes, and J, McDonald; selection committee, Messrs E. P. Symes, G. Walker and H. H. Biskop ; delegates to the union, Messrs. B, P. Symes, F. J. McDonald and H. W. James; auditor, Mr. W. J. Muir. It was decided to open the season next Saturday with a match Town versus Country. New Zealand football teams in the Egyptian and Palestine areas are upholding the reputation of the Dominion, according to' the news brought back by the men on the transport KaJkotn* ■ (says an exchange). When the vessel left Egypt a tournament to decide which team should go to England' to take part in the inter-regimental games there was just about concluded, and there was little or no doubt that the successful team would be one from the Auckland Mounted Rifles. This team had met and defeated various Australian, South African and English fifteens and had also had a very close tussle with the team, from the Wellington Mounted Rifles,- winning by onlytaree points to nil. The men also stated that there had been keen competition for supremacy among the teams at tie base. The New Zealand Details' team, however, had defeated all comers, and had won a massive silver cup valued at about £7O. This cup is to be brought back to the Dominion and presented to the New Zealand Rugby Union for competition among the* secondary schools and colleges.
