THE BRITISH AIR FORCE. ITS RAPID DEVELOPMENT. London, April 23. The official synopsis of the British air effort in the war period shows that the oatpnt of aeroplanes in the first ten months was 5302, and in the Inst ten months 20,68.'). Airmen used a bomb weighing 201b in 1014 and 30001b in 1910. Two officers and three men were engaged in photographic reconnaisances in 1914, compared witn 250 officers and 3000 men in 1919. Over 5% million prints of aerial photographs were issued by the air service in the war period. I'oiween July, 1918. and the armistiee 7000 enemy aircraft were brought down and 7000 tons of bombs dropped. The total flying time was 103 years. In connection with to-day's resumption of civilian flying the Air Ministry has issued regulations defining the air laws and providing for the half-yearly medical examination of pilots, daily tests of passenger machines, forbidding stunting tricks and landing and flying in populous areas Passing machines must be 200 yards apart anfl aeroplanes must give way to airships.
