'♦ NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The New Plymouth Golf Club commenced the season's Thursday matches yesterday with a medal match, for whicn twelve, competitors entered, and which was won, after playing three extra holes, by G. M. Kebbell, with a nett of SO. The play as a whole was good, though many strokes were lost on the greens, which were rather rough, owing to the worm casts. Wade 96 8 88 To-morrow the first of the Saturday matches—a bogey competition—will be played. LADIES' BOGEY MATCH. The first ladies' match for the season took place on the New Plymouth rinks yesterday, when a bogey match was played. The best scores were: Miss Gavin: 13 hep.; 0 down. Miss Reid: 16 hep.; 7 down. Miss Rollo: 17hcp.; 8 down. The monthly matches for the club's silver buttons will be reinstated this season. The first medal match will be played on Tuesday, 6th instant, players to choose their own opponents. The entrance fee is 2s for the series of five matches.
