a SOLEMN OATH. TREMENDOUS EXCITEMENT. Received April 30, 5.5 p.m. Rome, April 29. A mass meeting took a solemn oatli to remain united in the demand for Dalmatio and Fiume. There was tremendous excitement.—Argus Service. STATEMENT BY ORLANDO. ANNEXATIONS GRANTED. Received April 30, midnight. London, April 30. Rome telegrams report that Signor Orlando, in tile Chamber of Deputies, maintained a clam attitude. England and France, he said, wished loyally to adhere to the Pact of London. They asked that Fiume be an independent free city. Such freedom would be worthless if it did not respect Fiume's desire to be united to Italy.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. NATIONAL SAFETY. Received April 30, midnight. Washington, April 30. Senator Lodge, in a statement, declared that Italy should have Fiume, since her claims rest on the ground of national safety.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
