PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
I VIEWS OF THE CITIES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. , Wellington, Last Night. . The Mayor- to-day, received from the Mayors of Auckland, Christchurch, and Dunedin replies to the suggestion that the Government should give local bodies ten days' notification of the date for commencing the peace celebrations. The Mayor of Auckland advised that he had informed the Acting Prime Minister that it would be impossible for Auckland to comply with the Government's suggestions unless at least ten days' notice was given. He had asked whether the Government would consider the desirability of co-operating with other parts of the Empire to render the celebrations concurrent, if possible. The Mayor of Christchurch was in agreement with the suggestion that there should be ten days' notice. The Mayor of Dunedin said that no dissatisfaction was expressed there regarding the Government proposals. Personally, he considered that it would be unwise to alter them.
