The United States Postmaster-General hjis recommended to President Wilson that telephones and telegraphs be returned to private owners as soon as the necessary legislation is enacted. BAR OF SILVER STOLEN. Received April 29, 7.30 p.m. London, April 27. A thousand-ounce bar of silver, exhibited at Australia House, has been stolen. The other exhibits were untouched.—limes Service. THE SUGAR INDUSTRY. ■•. ■ Received April 30, 12.5 a.m. . Sydney, April 29. A Royal commission has opened an inquiry into the sugar industry. The general manager of the Colonial Sugar Company submitted a lengthy statement dealing with the national value of the i sugar industry.
