A POOR RESPONSE. Christchurch, April 25. A street collection made 10-dity in aid of the Returned Soldiers' Club 'i.Hiding Fund realised £503. Some reported that (bey had met wiih rebuffs from people who had refused to subscribe •'because t lie soldiers had voted against prohibition." "BUSINESS AS USUAL" ON ANZAC DAY. Auckland, April 25. Avzae Day is being observed as a partial holiday. Some business firms closed nil day, others from midday, and others for a short period to enable employees to attend the memorial service in the afternoon. Much feeling was expressed at the annual meeting of the Returned Soldiers' Association owing to the, decision of a number of business men to continue business on Auzae Day, A motion was carried asking the Government to declare the day a close holiday; also that lists of otl'ending firms be published.
