THE GOLF TOURNAMENT.
. <» ~—. SECOND DAY'S PLAY. CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS TO-DAY. The Taranaki Championship Golf Tournament was continued yesterday at the New Plymouth Club's W'aiwakaiho course, and, though the weather was anything but ideal, an interesting and enjoyable day was spent, some good play being shown in spite of the tricky wind, especially in the morning, and the keen green's proving somewhat disconcerting 10 many. The first and second round of the championship was concluded, and saw the lour New Plymouth and two Hawera representatives defeated. There now remain in I. Saunders (Wanganui)", G. Saunders (Wanganui), W. L. Young (Palmerston North), all of whom are scratch men, and W. Seifert (Palmerston North). The contests to-day, therefore, should be of a high order, as in the semifinals I.
