MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
THURSDAYS SITTING. (Before Mr A. Crooke, S.M.) Wm. Johnson, the last of the members of the crew of the barqueutine Thrasher, who deserted from the vessel while she was at the breakwater, was sentenced to one month's imprisonment with hard labor.
Ernest George was fined 10s (costs 7s) for failing to send his son, John George, to the Convent School, New Plymouth. On the application of i:r----:;:7.t," the maintenance order against Wm. Henderson, laborer, Kakuriki, for the support of his wife, and two children was increased from a total of 30s per week, to £1 for the wife and 10s eaeli for the children. It was stated that there were good grounds for believing that defendant was supporting another woman, who lived with him' as his wife, and also that divorce proceedings were pending. An application was also made for arrears of payments amounting to £l7 133 against the same defendant, who was sentenced to one month's imprisonment at Wellington. Costs amounting to £1 la in each case were allowed.
Mr A. H. Johnstone appeared for complainant, and defendant did not appear and was unrepresented.
