LABOR PARTY.

NEW PLYMOUTH BRANCH. (Contributed.) At a special meeting of the New Plymouth branch of the Labor Patty held on Tuesday night there was a splendid attendance. The fine spirit that Is being shown by members throughout these meetings augurs .veil for the tmcccss of the movement here. The business for the evening waß chiefly to adopt a platform for the forthcoming municipal elections. The following is the platform adopted: (1) Municipal Housing.—(a) That the fundamental of the party's municipal housing scheme shall be that the ownership of the property shall not be transferred from the municipality; (b) that the personal occupation of the property by a tenant shall not bo Interrupted except by mutual consent; provided all the by-laws of llie council in connection with the scheme are adhered to.

(2) Municipal Milk Supply.—(a) That the objective is for the municipality to own and control the mill; supply of the community, from tin grass to the consumer; (b) the Labor councillors when elected will move that a committee be set up at once for the purpose of the municipality controlling and ensuring a full milk supply for the people at the earliest possible moment. (3) Electrical Scheme.—That the municipality shall supply to consumers all the parts necessary for electrical uses, at the lowest possible prices, commensurate with cost.

(4) Extension or Municipal Trading.—(a) The speedy national control of pictures from the camera to the screen with a view to the improvement of their educational value, by the screening of more educational, scenic, topical and Industrial films; (b) their introduction as a definite educative agency In the schools; (c) that the principle of the establishment of a municipal food supply Is approved by the party, and that upon Its coming into the municipal service a committee will be set up to consider lis practicability and to adrocate the necessary legislation. (5) Cheaper tram and bus fares.

(6) The extension of. tramway or motor-bus services. -

(T) Public conveniences. The adopting of a platform for the Hospital Board was left over till a subsequent meeting. Correspondence was read from the secretary of tho Grocers' Union and the Freezing Workers' Union to the effect that both unions had decided to affiliate with the party. The ohairman referred to the fact that Mr. Mitt Mrs. Beard, both of whom hfive been actlve members s'nee the formation of the branch, were leaving for a trip to England, and the hope was expressed that they would have a good time, and that they would return greatly Beneated by their experience, and assured them that while away they would always have the good wishes of the party. A. vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
