INTIMIDATION CONTINUES. Cairo, April 14. Intimidation, with a tendency to fanaticism, continues in Egypt Arrangements are being made to bring some women and children from the danger zone to England. Mobile columns are moving over the Delta. The centre of sedition is the El-Azhar Moslem University in Cairo. The Egyptian police thus far are not affected, but the seditious articles in the native press are having an effect. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
RELEASE OF DEPORTEES. Received April 17, 1.10 a.m. Cairo, April .12. General Allenby's pronouncement of the release of Said Pasha and other deportees who had been interned at Malta led to enthusiastic demonstrations in Cairo and Alexandria, recalling Mafeking night in London. All classes of Egyptians paraded the streets singing and dancing, and shouting: "Vive l'Angleterre" and "Vive Allenby!" An unfortunate incident occurred in the Opera Square, Cairo. The mob came into collision with British soldiers, and several casualties occurred, including two soldiers wounded.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc. '
