WORK AND WAGES.
RAILWAYMAN'S PAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, April 14. The Otago branch of the A.S.R.S. passed a resolution that it considered the proposed schedule of wages was totally inadequate, in view of the fact that the sovereigu possesses ojily threefifths of its former purchasing power, and was strongly adverse to the proposals submitted by the executive. If the present bonus was converted into wages the deduction due to superannuation would mean a reduction in the monthly wage. The branch nrged a special conference to deal with the matter. Auckland, April 14. A meeting of the Auckland branch of the A.S.E.S. passed a resolution against the adoption of the wages and conditions submitted by the Minister and the management, expressing the opinion that the present general secretary and executive councillors should \ resign, giving members an opportunity to elect officers more in touch with the feeling of members throughout the Dominion.
