Received April 14, 5.5 p.m. New York, April 3. General/Hertzog, leader of the Boer Mission, interviewed, said that if South Africa's demands for a republic are not granted there will be trouble. The Transvaal and Orange Free State should be restored their liberty, and Natal and the Cape should remain under British rule if they so desire. The Boer Mission was going to interview Mr. Lloyd George and press its claims for -a republic. If successful, they intend to present their case to the Peace Conference, General Smuts had represented the majority view of the South African Union at the Peace Conference.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
