STRATFORD.

tFrom Our Own Correspondent.) (AH communications, letters, etc.. left with Mr H J. Hopkins, bookseller, Kill recetn prompt mention.) Stratford, April 14. • Those interested in winter feeding—and all fanners surely are—will find some fine specimens of Garton's Hardy Green Globe turnip now showing at Mr. Newton King's premises. The roots were grown at the Model Dairy Farm, and, while all that can be desired, received no special treatment, not having been grown in the experimental plot. The fertiliser used was basic super, and the quantity, 2i cwt. to the acre. A few tons like the sample would be welcome to any farmer. Last winter the Model Dairy Farirt had several tons of turnips over their requirements, and these were eagerly snapped up by dairymen in the district. With the experience of last June-August farmers are determined to have plenty of feed and more cultivation is the result. The directors of the farm have every reason to feel satisfied with the results achieved, and their records of seeds,- soils, fertilisers and time for sowing should prove very useful to the whole district. The Easter holidays are close at hand, and some of those who have the time but not the means to travel far are reminded that Lester Bros, are making the Gardens specially attractive for Easter. The proprietors anticipate a busy time during Easter. Negotiations are pending between suppliers and proprietor of a proprietary factory to have it made a co-operative concern, and a meeting for that purpose will be held this week.

Although shipping arrangements are far from being regular or satisfactory, Mr. C. E. James has been fortunate in landing some splendid sets of English china tea-sets, ranging in price from £1 18s to £2 2s (id (21 pieces). Later on, dinner and other sets are expected. Those in need of tea-sets would be well advised to call and see Mr. James' shipment, which are unique in design and the prices are unapproachable. Still a good range of ladies' hand-bags to clear.—Advt.
