KAILWA YUEN'S WAGES. Napier, Last Night. The largest meeting of railwaymen ever held in Napier passed the following resolution unanimously: "That this meeting of the Napier branch of the A.S.R.S., after going carefully into the proposed schedule of wages submitted by the Department, considers the wages proposed are totally inadequate. As the purchasing value of the sovereign is now reduced to 13s, we consider that our wages under the new schedule should be further increased by 2s per day. This branch will not be satisfied until the schedule proposed by the executive of the A.S.R.S. and approved by the branches is adopted in its entirety. We also wish to point out that we have not received an increase in wages, the Department merely calling the bonus wages, so that the superannuation contributions will be deducted, thus reducing our monthly wage. The branch also urges that a special conference be arranged to urgently deal with the wages euestiwß."
