POLES AND UKRAINIANS NEGOTIATING. ALLIED TROOPS LANDING AT CONSTANZA. London, April 1. Ukrainian-Polish negotiations have opened under the presidency ot an American general.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Association. Copenhagen, April 1. Advices from Berlin state that British and Italian troops at Presburg have occupied the railways, presumably preparatory to military action against Budapest. It is reported at Bucharest that Entente troops are landing at Constanza and going to Hungary.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Berne, April 8.
Roumanian refugees state that Bulgaria ia on the brink of Bolshevism and is ready to declare a Soviet Republic. Roumania is becoming alarmed, and is mobilising an additional division. The population is dismayed at the Allies' fiilatoriness "in facing the menace of European civilisation. Hungarians are exploiting the situation, while aeroplanes are showering Bolshevist leaflets on the army camps, urging association with the Russian and Hungarian Soviets. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BOLSHEVIK ACTIVITY. London, April 10. The Bolsheviks have occupied Chmerinka, an important junction on the lines to Kieff, Tarnapo!, and Odessa, cutting off the Ukraine from Galicia, threatening Poskuroff, Kamientz and Podolia. The population of the whole area is in consternation. A large Bection with Jewish organisation has joined the Bolsheviks. There are indications that the Government of General Petlura and the Ukrainian army, which despite numerical inferiority had been fighting ceaselessly for the past three months, will soon reach the end of its resources and be compelled to Beek refuge as far as possible from Galicia. The Bolsheviks will then reach the new Roumanian frontier on the Dniester.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
HUNGARIANS AND CZECHS FIGHTING. London, April 10. The Hungarian and Czechs had a violent engagement at Ungvar. Several hundreds were killed.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. BRITISH MISSION AND POLAND.
