GREAT DEPRESSION. DEMAND FOR LABORER'S WORK. Received April 10, 5.30 p.m. London, March 31. Travellers from Budapest report great depression. The overwhelming majority don't want the Government, but nobody ventures to express these views, because the Government is acting with great strength. Thousands of lawyers, merchants, and officials are applying for laborers' work, for which the Government has fixed a wage, of twenty-five shillings daily.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. The Hungarian Soviet Government, replying to General Smuts' proposals, formulates another set of proposals, involvig different boundaries favorable to Hungarian interests, but agrees to the proposed summoning of a conference.— Reuter.
