A SOCIAL REUNION.

(From A Correspondent). The Maketawa Dairy Company's annual picnic and dance, that lias been in obeyancc during the war and revived this year was, as in the years gone by, completed by a social reunion at the Norfolk Iload school on Friday, 4th mst. a fitting finish to the out-of-doors function of Thursday, 3rd inst., fully described in the Daily News 011 which latter occasion the weather was all that could be desired. There was a really social gathering of rural folk, just many enough to fill the Boor and few enough for comfortable dancing room. A sprinkling of boys in khaki served to remind those present of the seriousness of our late danger and of the solemn reasons for rejoicing at these boys' safe return. They were heartily welcomed and seemed to be never short of partners in the dances. Misses Hu"an and Laurence, who had charge of the piano, were tireless providers of music for the dancers, while (he M.C.'s duties were ably carried out by Messrs Leu Brown andjjW. Marshall. Vocal items were contributed by Mr. W. Earp, who was encored on each occasion. (It is a pity that some more of the young folk cannot be induced to add vocal items to swell the evening's programme; they would certainly be appreciated). Meanwhile some of tha older members of the company fovrnd euchre a pleasant pastime, while their younger relatives were more actively enjoying themselves, and so with the plentiful supper provided, a very satisfactory round off to this fixture for 1919 was completed in the early hours of Saturday, pxaling.
