At Fitham on Wednesday, April 2, we had a good yarding of sheep and cattle which sold at late rates: Fat cows £lO 10s to £ll, good forward cows £8 to £9 13s, store cows £5 15s to £7 sa, good 20-montb Jersey grade heifers in calf £S 15s, springing heifers £S 17s Bd, weaner steers £2 10s to £3, weaner heifers £2 15s to £2 19s, weaners, mixed sexes, £1 4s 6d to £2 12s 6d, bulls £9 to £lO 10s, lambs 5s to 12s, fat lambs 19s Od, mixed 2-tooths 22s 3d, store pigs £2 10s to £3 3s. At Hawera on Thursday, April 3, we had a large yarding of sheep and a small yarding of cattle. Practically everything was sold either at auction or privately after the sale. We quote: Good forward cows £7 12s Od to £9 12s 6d, store cows £5 10s to £0 12s, 18-montli in-calf heifers £5 2s Gd to £0 7s Od, three-year in-calf heifers £9 12s Od, empty IR-months heifers £3 10s, weaner steers 28s to £2, mixed weaners £1 15s to £2 18s, store lambs 10s to 15s 9d, cull j ewes ss, f.m. ewes lis Id, 4, 6 and f.m. ewes (fair condition) 19s to £l, Romney rams lgn to ljgns.
