Considerable interest is being taken in the Ministerial visit here. Sir W. I'raser (Minister for Public Works) and Hon. D 11. Guthrie (Minister for Lands) will arrive by mail train this evening. To-night and to-morrow morning several deputations will wait upon them It is understood these will include delegates appointed by several local bodies in reference to the hydro-electric scheme, ilr W. P. Kirkwood will touch upon the need of making further provision for niacins soldiers on the land, whilst, besides the Mayor (representing the local council), Mr Burgess (Mayor of New Plymouth) and 'Mr McCntchan (Whangamomona County chairman) will also be present at to-night's meeting. The members for Taranaki (Mr S. G. Smith) and Egmont (Mr C. A. Wilkinson) arc also in town- Messrs Johns and Penn (New Plymouth Chamber of Commerce) will strengthen the deputations that are waiting upon (lie politicians at Whancamomona to-morrdw evening. Evidently something big is expected there as arrangements are complete for banquetting 301) people, wWlst 100 horses have been secured to enable the visitors to travel to localities the settlers desire to bring under their notice. Mr T- Thomas, Eltham, presided at a meetin" of school teachers held bere on Saturday, when it was decided to form a Taranaki branch of the Dominion Headmasters' Association. "Recently they communicated this decision to Hawera, and Stratford members will be interested to learn that after a very abort discussion the question was deferred to the annual meeting.

Although shipping arrangements are far from being regular or satisfactory, Mr. C. E. James has been fortunate in landing some splendid sets of English china tea-sets, ranging in price from £1 ISs to £2 2s Cd (21 pieces). Later on, dinner and other sets are expected. Those in need of tea-sets would be well advised to call and see Mr. James' shipment, which are unique in design and the prices are unapproachable.
