WORK AND WAGES.
THE WATERSIDERS' DISPUTE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The conference regarding the watersiders' wages was attended to-day by the Government Statistician, who gave information as to increases in the cost of living. The conference has not concluded its discussions yet, and resumes tomorrow. RAILWAYMEN TAKE A BALLOT. Dunedin, Last Night. It is understood that telegrams have been received at Dunedin and Invercargill from the general secretary of the Locomotive Drivers, Firemen and Cleaners' Association, stating that the proposals by the Minister are unsatisfactory, and that ballot papers are being forwarded, presumably to enable members to take a vote on the question of a strike.
