LEAGUE OF NATIONS
A REVISED DRAFT. BY AMERICAN SENATOR. Received March 31, 7.50 p.m. Washington, March 22. Senator King states that he has drafted a revised version of the League of Nations covenant, and is sending it to President Wilson. Senator King leaves for France within three weeks for the purpose of urging the adoption of the revised draft. The amendments provide specific recognition of the Monroe doctwne, whereunder the nations in the Western Hemisphere will be permitted to execute the League's measures affecting any part of the Western Hemisphere. A similar provision is made for the Eastern Hemisphere. The League covenant would declare that any of the nations' domestic problems are not to be interfered with by the League. Domestic problems include the question of immigration, imnosts on property, inheritance laws anu naturalisation. Senator King claims that the revised covenant is written in clearer language than the official draft. —Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc.
