A MURDERER ACQUITTED. Paris, March 30. Raoul Villain, who was accused of murdering: M lames in 1014, has been acquitted. He pleaded patriotic motives The prosecution did not demand the death sentence. It blamed a section of the press for virulent attacks on M. Jaures, which was morally responsible for Villain's act. Villain's mother has been an inmate of an asylum since his child-hood.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. JAPANESE-AMERICAN LINES OF STEAMERS. New York, March 28. According to cable advices received at San i Francisco, Japanese and American capitalists have established a steamship company with a capital of fifty million dollars. The lino will be established betw«en Calcutta and South American ports; a second line between New York and Vladivostock via Panama canal; and a third lice between Yokohama and Liverpool via Suez. —Aus.-N.JO.
