ARMISTICE
THE DANTZIC LANDING. GERMANS STILL OPPOSE. WHATEVER THE CONSEQUENCES. Received March 31,10.15 p.m. Paris, March 30. The eastern situation is still perplexing. The Germans rejected a demand for landing General Haller's troops at Danzig, and put forward an alternative that they might land at Stettin, Memel, Libau or Konigsberg It is reported that the Council of Four accepted Marshal Foch's advice to serve a sharp notice on the German Government. The latter consulted all political parties at Weimar, who indicated that they had resolved, whatever the consequences, to oppose the landing at Danzig.—Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc.
GERMANS AND BOLSHEVISTS. SERIOUS COQUETTING. Received March 31,11 40 p.m. Paris. March 31. An investigator employed by the British told the Conference that there had been serious coquetting between the German governing classes, particularly the militarists and the Bolshevists. They recognise Germany is dethroned as a world Power, and contemplate the alternative of joining in with the Bolshevists and dragging down the world with them, believing that Germany can recover more rapidly than other nations. —Aus. acd N.Z. A German wirelea% message states that the Entente rejected Germany's counter proposals regarding Danzig, but despatches indicate that Germany and the Entente realise the dangers of Bolshevism, and a rupture will possibly be avoided if German national interests are not prejudiced owing to the landing Aus, and N.Z.
