THE HAWKE CUP MATCH. WON BY POVERTY BAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wangamii, Last Night. The Hawke cup cricket match between Wacganui and Poverty Bay was concluded to-day in fine weather, the visitors winning by three wickets after an exciting finish. The wicket was soft, but the outfield was faster than on the previous dayWangamii, with four wickets down for 66, continued this morning, and were all out for 13#, the principal scores being Ellem 23, and Holland 13. Oatea took four wickets for 41, Cocrinibe 2 for 24, Scholium 1 for 13.

Poverty Bay had to make 117 runs to win, and at one stage five wickets were down for CO, but Coombe and Beeves, byifoToaful batting, carried the- score to. 94 before the next wicket fell. The seventh wicket fell at 110, but the necessary rims were got without further loss The chief scores for Poverty Bay were Coombe 25, and Reeves, not out, 30. The home side's fielding was faulty, several catches being dropped. Holland took six wickets for 36. THE NEW PLYMOUTH REVIVAL. The adjourned meeting of those interested in the formation of a new cricket around at New Plymouth was b"ld at the Soldiers' Club last night, Mr E. Whittle presiding over a large attendance. The report of the executive was received, and it was agreed that the association should go on with the recommendation of the executive as to the formation of a ground at_ the racecourse. Subscriptions promised in the room for three years amounted to over £4fl a year. Sub-committees were set up to canvns the town for support, and to proceed in forming the new ground, with power to add to its number. A vote of thanks was accorded to the press for help in bringing the matter before the public. Meetings are being held by the various sub-committees with, a view to raise the project.
