In the House of Commons Sir Auckland Geddes (Minister of Reconstruction) emphasised the view that if the general restrictions were removed we would be 'flooded with goods not required for national life. A NEW FIELD GUN. London, March 27. The Evening Standard states that the War Office has decided to issue a new field gun which was tried successfully in the latest stages of the war. The range of the weapon is 4000 yards greater than that of the 18-pounder, and it has extraordinary steadine33, rivalling the French 7o's. TRANSPORT PROBLEMS. London, March 27. The Morning Post says it is understood Sir Eric Geddes, in using the powers under the Transport Bill, proposes to make Hull the centre for wool and Southampton for cold storage.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. Paris, March 27. The Waterways Commission considered a new through train route via Paris, Piome, the Danube, Laibach, Belgrade, and Odessa. The other branch would be from Athens to Constantinople.—Reuter.
