THE SHIPPING DIFFICULTY.
INSULATED SPACE FOR APRIL. Received March 26, 8.30 p.m. London, March 24. Official—The question of securing an increase iu the number of insulated (hips for New Zealand has been urged Vigorously during the past few month!, by Mr. Massey, who, in addition to consulting the Controller and communicatiog with the Imperial authorities, had, by several interviews in the Times, Loadon, drawn pointed attention to the Dominion's shipping needs. Mr. Massey has now been advised by the Controller that three steamers have been assigned New Zealand for April loading. Wellington, Last Jfigfit. The Minister in Charge of Imperial ' Supplies received a cable to-day from the Higti Commissioner with regard to securing an increase of insulated ships for New Zealand, and stating that three additional steamers had been assigned to (New Zealand for April loading. Mr. Guthrie, in making the announcement, said he Bent numerous cables to London urging that more ships should be allotted to New Zealand, because our J cold storage capacity was reaching Its r limit, while information from Australia ' disclosed that the freezing stores of the b Commonwealth will practically be cleared" ' by the end of April. He trusted the ex- 1 tra ships wouid relieve the congestion ' existing to some extent, and allow the freezing industry to go on. With regard to general cargo ships, New Zealand had no ground for complaint.
