Lord Curzon, speaking in the House of Lords, said that the situation in Egypt was less anxious. Mobs in upper Egypt had torn up the railways and cut down telegraph poles, but communication was being maintained by aeroplanes and wireless. The recent, manifestations were predatory rather than political. A Serious feature was the possibility of the Bedouins joining t-hc disturbance. RAILWAY TRAFFIC SUSPENDED. STATIONS DESTROYED Received March 25, 10.20 p.m. London, March 24. The Daily Express' Cairo correspondent states that all railway traffic in Egypt is suspended. On Sunday mobs wfeeked many stations and cut the lines, but the troops now hold the principal stations. Aeroplanes patrol the tracks, machinegunning the mobs. The trouble was renewed on Monday, more stations being destroyed. The student and lawyer classes, who fomented the trouble, tow find themselves in the hands of lawless bands of Bedouins and laborers. Cairo fears fresh outbreaks, but the railways and telegraphs are heavily guarded. The streets are patrolled. The troops are confined to barracks.—Aus. N.Z. Cable Assoc. TUBBULENTS CALMING DOWN.
