CRICKET.

A most enjoyable match was played on the High School ground on Saturday afternoon, when a Tikorangi team played a Now Plymouth and Boys' High School team, the visitors being defeated by one wicket and 22 runs. Tikorangi lost the toss and went in, making 91 runs on a turf wicket which played well. A. Soffe (21) and M'Kinney (19) getting double figures for their side, whilst Lye batted very steadily for nine. Bain, Sinclair and Quickfall divided the bowling honors for New Plymouth. Rain fell before the New Plymouth side started batting and in order to save the wicket matting was put down. With a ball difficult to hold the Tikorangi bowlers were at a disadvantage. For New Plymouth Heskett (22), Ouickfall (13). Bottrill (12, Sinclair (12) and Weston (43) batted well, the ninth wicket falling to the last ball of the day for a total of 113 runs. Sarten (2), Lye and Foreman bowled well for Tikorangi.
