INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tarata hail was crowded to the door; last week to welcome home eight returned soldiers. Unfortunately, F. Fougere, T. Hardigan, and C. Moir were unable to be present, but Lieut. Blackbourne, Drivers T. Kay. and G. Burr, Private .1. Hogan and Rifleman D. Paterson were present, and must have thoroughly enjoyed the hearty welcome which was voiced by Mr. Ible, who congratulated (lie soldiers on their safe return. Lieut. Blackbourjie suitably acknowledged the kindly sentiments, and thanked the Tarata people for the gifts presented by Miss* Orace Ibel as a memento of their part in the war. Excellent vocal items were contributed by ! Miss Bowater and Rifleman D. Patersoii, whilst Miss Twigg obliged with a pianoforte solo. Dancing was kept going until an early hour in the morning, the music by Misses Williams (3) being appreciated by all. New concrete premise* near the Tnglewood Record office indicates .that the boroiiph is beginning to move ahead ami property owners are recognising that substantial premises pay best in the long run, besides adding to the prosperous .appearance of the town.
