MEETING OP GENERAL COMMITTEE A meeting of'the general committee of the Taranaki Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held on Saturday last. There were present: Messrs. W. B. Grant (in the chair), H. C. Sampson, W. Hall, C. Hoskin, A. R. Gudopp, P. Lister, J. R. Rowlands, H. Blackball, B. Honeyfield, A. T. Moore and T. Smellie. The following recommendations of the executive were approved: That a committee, consisting of Messrs Browne and Jackson, be set up to bring down a recommendation for a suitable building for a refreshment booth, etc.; that the suggestions of Mr. F. Hoskin with respect to the sheep classes be referred to a committee consisting of Messrs. Grant, Lister and C. Hoskin, to confer with Mr. F. Hoskin; that the question of green feed at the autumn show be referred to the grounds committee, to prepare a scheme' for the avoidance of waste; that the selection of medals be referred to Messrs. Grant and Benton; that the following committee be set up to revise the fruit, garden vegetable, and farm produce sections for the winter show: Messrs. King, Tate, Rowlands, Sampson, and Andrews (2); that the Bee-keepers' Association be asked to revise the honey section; that Mrs. Dowling and Messrs. Stratford and Johnson be asked to revise the primary schools sections, Mr. A. Gray the technical school classes, and Mr. Kirkpatrick the engineering section; that the schools rural section be referred /to Messrs. Browne and Connett, and a committee suggested by them; that the classes for Boy Scouts be referred to Mr. A. T. Moore; that Mr. F. Ranford be heartily thanked for his report re the boys' cow-judging competition; that a letter of congratulation be forwarded to the Boys' High School, on the meritorious performance of the pupils in the cow-judging competition; that Mr. Ranford's suggestion re additional judging classes, etc., be referred to the schedule revision committee; that Messrs. Connett, Grant, Dobson, Hoskin, Browne, Sampson, Jackson, and Moore be a space committee for the 1919 Winter Show; that the space committee be a canvassing committee for exhibits for the Winter Show; that the suggestion that the weight be stipulated in freezers' classes be referred to a sub-committee consisting of Messrs. Grant, Hoskin and I Lister. The application of the officer commanding of A Company, Territorials, for permission to have erected a, miniature rifle range in the Society's annexe to the Coronation Hall was referred to the space committee, with power to act. Votes of thanks for services in connection with the recent show were passed as follows: For paddocking accommodation: Messrs. B. Sampson, C. Colson, G. Fox, M. King, G. Colson, N. King, J. Kibby, A. Locke, E. Butler, L. A. Nolan, M. Jones, C. F. Foote, J. S. Connett, and Mrs. Bellringer. For green feed: Messrs. T. Luxton, H. Sampson, J. S. Connett, G. Colson (also special vote to Mr. Colson for use and preparation of the ground), A. Colson, and W. Ogle. For use of tarpaulins: Bell Block Factory, Messrs. A. B. Leech, J. H. Allen, B. Honeyfield, C. E. Dobson, aid W. B. Grant. A vote of thanks Was also passed to the local officials of the Railway Department for the complete arrangements for loading and unloading stock and for the cleanliness of the wagons. A vote of thanks was a,ccorded to Mr. G. W. Browne for services in connection with the additional building provided for the luncheon and afternoon tea. Mr. J. R. Hill was elected a member of the Executive Committee.
