THE WOOL MARKET.
A FAVORABLE PROSPECT. Received March 22, 12.30 a.m. London, March 20. Mr. Goldfinch, addressing the Wool Council, said it was estimated that r,56,-, 000 bales would arrive during the first quarter, in addition to 072,000 Australian afloat, arriving after March 31. This would be sufficient for Britain's, France's Italy's and Belgium's needs. It was hoped to arrange for still larger shipments, but the position was not wholly favorable, owing to steamers being delayed for divers reasons connected with the movements of troops. Twenty-one cargoes had recently been landed or transhipped in the eaßt. Wool thus delayed was forwarded subsequently in such a manner as to disturb the arrangements in regard to classification.
