ELTHAM.
(From Our Own Correspondent) Elthain, March 17. It will come as news to many that Mr 0- H. Buckeridge, for many years a residents contemplates residing' in Hawera shortly, having sold his property. ;Ur Buckeridge does not intend severing his connection with this town, however, and will make tin's a branch of his business His departure will leave a blank hard to fill, particularly in church matters, in which he was a keen worker. The wishes of all Eltham will go with Mr and Mrs Buckeridge and family in their new home. Vow that the war is over one hears quite a number of farmers in this district who have intimated their int"ntention of visiting Britain, and possibly Europe, during the winter months. Mangatoki has successfully revived the athletic club that lias been responsible for many enjoyable outings in Mr Bosson's paddock. At a meeting held last wcok, Mr Joe Fearon in the chair, it was resolved to "carry on" as usual and set up a strong committee. The meetinsr_.ippca.rs to have elected nearly every business man in Eltham n vice-president, and if they can get these gentlemen to take an interest in the club and also extract 10/0 from each individual the success of the venture is assured. The meeting will be held early in April. In the past, seven aside tournaments have been prominent, and probably next year these will re-appear. At present football appears to be off. but, despite this. a most varied programme is certain to be dished up for patrons.
