INGLEWOOD.
(Our District Reporter.) March 14. Congratulations are due to the energetic committee for the successful results obtained at the annual sports held yesterday. The tradespeople of the town responded generously in the way of donations, and a comprehensive programme was arranged. A fine contingent came from Stratford, and gave the Various contests quite a provincial flavor. The baths are situated quite close to the business portion of the town and kept in a manner that showed great care and attention. The financial results were very satisfactory, but the club were unfortunate in Delecting an afternoon when the bowling fraternity were also engaged. As it was, the accommodation was taxed to the utmost, principally by children. If the club hold another gathering before the season closes they may prevail upon some officials of the New Plymouth Club to attend. Excellent progress is being made with the erection of the fine concrete premises in Rata Street for Messrs Hayles, Spiirdle and Co. When completed those premises will add considerably to the business portion of the town. The enterprise of the new firm in putting up substantial premises is an indication of faith 111 the future of the town.
House-building is also proceeding apace, an indication that Inglewood, like the rest of Taranaki, is once again moving forward now that the war is at an end.
