HOW THE WAR INCREASED THEIR NUMBERS.

Received March 14, 5.5 p.m. London, March 12. The Board of Trade announces that the number of women employed in British industries, excluding domestic service, at the end of July of 1914. was Ji,27G.000, and in April, 1018, 4,805,000, of which 1,510,000 directly replaced males. The percentage of females to the total workers employed in April, 1918, was 37 per cent., compared with 24 per cent, in 1914.—Au5.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
