Stratford, March 13. A large and influential deputation waited upon the Ma)-or (Mr. J. W. McMilliin) yesterday and desired that lie should, allow himself to be nominated for a further term of office. After some discussion his Worship consented to accede to the request of the deputation, the latter forming a committee and electing Air. J. S. Lyons sccrei-wy. The committee promised to a.ssia>:'a,ll they can to assure Mr. McMUkuV* mum, and will hold another meeting in the course of a few days. It is also aasured that the Mayor will take the public platform and outline the future policy of the borough if he is returned, and also touch upon present and past municipal matters. Those supporting Mr. Boon are expecting the ex-Mayor to put up a big fight. GENERAL. It is only natural that the continued spell of dry weather is causing uneasiness in many quarters. The borough electrical engineer (Mr. Holland) is one of those anxiously scouring the horizon for the appearance of rain, as the Patea River is running very slow, and is extremely low. The electric light plant is now obliged to use the Diesel oil plant. Whilst the electrical engineer desires rain, the borough engineer can do with all the sunshine possible to permit the asplmltiug of Broadway, which, however, has boon practically at a standstill for several days, through a mishap to the sprayer. When this is remedied work will proceed as usual, but the delay is militating against the prospects of the work being completed before the wet season sets in.

Views taken of the Ngaere Gardens at the recent gala gathering arc being screened here and the film should prove a splendid advertisement to the enterprise of Lester Bros., who are making ovory effort to popularise this beautiful spot.
