KAURI FOREST FIRES.
EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dargavillc, March 11. A fire broke out in the Waipoua kauri forest last Thursday. It caught tire from an adjacent settlers burning off. the caretaker, with a gang of men. worked continuously to prevent the spread of the fire and word was received this morning that it was well under, unless a wind sprang up. Tt is estimated that from 150,000 to 200,000 feet o: dry timber have been destroyed and fully fifty green kauri trees.
