Light showers fell this afternoon. Rain is long overdue, and there are many who would be pleased to see tliree or four days' solid downpour. In some quarters it is generally reported that the season has been a poor one for dairymen. Putting the question to one man to-day he stated he had not looked up his figures, but thought the season had not been too bad, and would be little behind previous seasons. He was certain farmers had profited by last winter, and there were far mpre hay-stacks than usual now standing.
