Xiittal), presided over a very pleasant little function, which served to welcome home Fireman F. O'Keefe, who suitably acknowledged the congratulations of his comrades on hns safe return. A vote of condolence was passed to Mrs. Parsons over the loss of her son. Fireman Parsons through influenza whilst, on active service. In responding to the toast of the "Taranaki Fire Brigades' Association, the secretary (Fireman A. M. Burrows) gave a few interesting details, stating there were 11 brigades, carrying a membership of 200, affiliated to the association. The gift of some crockery by Foreman J. Light showers fell this afternoon. Rain is long overdue, and there are many who would be pleased to see tliree or four days' solid downpour. In some quarters it is generally reported that the season has been a poor one for dairymen. Putting the question to one man to-day he stated he had not looked up his figures, but thought the season had not been too bad, and would be little behind previous seasons. He was certain farmers had profited by last winter, and there were far mpre hay-stacks than usual now standing.
