THE INDUSTRIES COMMISSION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Nelson, Last Night. The House of Representatives Industries Commission has been in the district since Friday, Saturday being spent in a motor tour through the orchard lands To-day the committee heard a great quantity of evidence relating to the possibilities of the development of agricultural and mineral resources of the province and other matters. EXTENDING ELECTRICITY. Christebuveli. Last Night. The City Council decided to-night to raise a loan of £150,000 for the purpose of carrying out the extension of the electric lighting and power scheme, and the installation of a f tand by plant to obviate the trouble caused last winter, when snowstorms brought down the Lake Coleridge transmission lines. DRY WEATHER IN AUCKLAND. Auckland, Last Night. Auckland district is suffering severely from the dry weather, and in the country townships there is a shortage of water. Farmers are in constant fear of fires, particularly in the vicinity of the railway lines, where the scrub is like tinder. The province urgently needs copious rain. RELIGIOUS OB.TECTORS. Auckland, Last Night. Members of th». Religious Objectors' Advisory Board are returning to Wellington, naving comr.leted their investigation. The- boaTd will forward its report to the Minister in the course of a few days.
