ON THE SEA.
THE JUTLAND BATTLE. DAMAGE TO BRITISH SHIPS. Received March 10, 11.40 p.m. London, March 7. The Admiralty is shortly issuing details of the damage done to British vessels in the Jutland battle. The Australian press learns that the battleship Marlborough was struck by a torpedo, flooding her dynamo-room, hydraulic room, and one boiler room. The Barham was hit twice, but no great materia! damage resulted, although there were heavy casualties amongst the medical and wireless stall's. The Colossus was hit twice, causing a fire on the gun deck, but the damage was not serious.
The Malaya was hit eight limes. A six-inch gun was damaged and mountings were wrecked. The inner and outer oil bunkers were flooded, also slight damage in the after turret.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
