ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)"' Eltham, March 10. Prior to the war, Eltham had a fine, progressive horticultural show, hut the last four years the society has slumbered soundly. In the meantime the parishioners of All Saints Church have filled the breach, and very successfully. The annual exhibition was hold lust week, and although the season has hardly been a good one for blooms, being somewhat, late, the exhibits, though not so numerous as usual, were decidedly good and well up to standard, whilst the < vegetables, etc., gave a practical demonstration of what the soil in the district can produce with ordinary cultivation and attention PrzeH were well distributed —proof that the district was well represented. Rev. R. Hobday and Mr. T. B. Crump (Mayor) both gave short addresses during the exhibition regarding the value of these annual displays. It is anticipated that the funds of the church will b; improved by £9O. Warm, dry weather continues. This may prove irksome to some, but evidently does not disturb others, as a good attendance of tinners, assembled at the. Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday for the dance held there. Windows were opened \ and dancers footed it merrily to the excellent dance music of Mrs, J. Bodle, whilst Mr T. Scotm is becoming a past-', I master in the duties of M-C.
