WHANGAMQMONA. I (From Our Own Correspondent.) February was characterised by dryness. Hot days and cold nights. Rain fell ork eight days; maximum fall 0.45 in. on the 12th; total for month 1.19 in. Councillor Geever, J, P., of Whaugamomona, performed the opening ceremony, and referred to the progress of the district. Two churches—one already erected and the other in active preparation—spoke well for the spiritual life of the townshjp. Great praise was due to the efforts of the Rev. Father Moore and his willing helpers. He trusted thai their efforts would meet with the success they deserved and a suitable place of worship be the outcome. The bazaar was then declared open, and a brisk business was done at the many; stalls. ' : The activity of the local school committee has resulted in the purchase of a piano (English) for the school. The instrument is to be placed in the infant room, but a perplexed teacher is troubled about finding accommodation in au already over-crowded area.
